I) 1st Sept ? Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered a talk on ?Cochlear implantation in India: an overview? at ?Lateral skull base workshop? organized by Nanavati hospital, Mumbai. II) 23rd Sept - MERF doctors participated in a free mega medical camp organized by Sri Jwala Trust at Perambur

I) 19th Aug ? A mobile ENT unit, the first of its kind in India, was donated to Madras ENT Research Foundation by Indian Bank on the occasion of its centenary celebrations. The mobile ENT unit was handed over by the Hon. Finance Minister, Govt of India, Thiru.P. Chidambaram in the presence of the Hon. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M. Karunanidhi at a glitzy function. The unit is fitted with complete audiological facilities and diagnostic facilities, including operating microscope, endoscopes etc. This comes as a shot in the arm for the efforts of the Community Otolaryngology department of Madras ENT Research Foundation.

I) 14 ? 15th Jul - Madras ENT Research Foundation organized 32nd Otological Microsurgical workshop. II) 28th Jul ? Clinical audiological conference was conducted at MERF. Cases presented were 1. Cochlear implantation in Jervell, Lange-Nielsen syndrome 2. Cochlear implantation in Branchio-oto-renal syndrome 3. A case of cochlear dysplasia III) 31st Jul ? Dr. Mohan Kameswaran was invited to participate in the first auditory brainstem implantation at Singapore.

I) 1 - 3rd June ? Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered a lecture on ?Fungus?related sinus disease? in AOI, Pune. II) 2nd June ? MERF doctors participated in camp organized by Support group for mucopolysaccharidosis (a unit of Fetal Care Research Foundation) at Royapettah, Chennai. III)3rd June - ENT and free hearing screening camp for civil supplies CID personnel was conducted at Madras ENT Research Foundation. Around 50 personnel were screened for various ENT disorders and hearing impairment. IV) 9th June ? Clinical-pathological conference was conducted at Madras ENT Research Foundation. Cases presented were a) A case of parotid tumor (Warthin?s) b) A case of postcricoid mass (pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia) c) A case of jugular foramen lesion (pleomorphic adenoma). V) 9th June ? A multi-disciplinary symposium on ?Tobacco and Health? commemorating World Anti-tobacco day jointly organized by Tamil Nadu Indian Medical Association - Poonamalle high road branch and Madras ENT Research Foundation was held at Madras ENT research Foundation. VI) 10th Jun ? MERF doctors participated in an ENT screening camp organized by DMK youth wing, T.Nagar. VII) 18 ? 25th Jun ? Dr. Sathiya Murali, Consultant ENT Surgeon, attended an orientation workshop on Video Nystagmography systems at Uniklinik, Aachen, Germany. IX) 22 ? 24th Jun ? ?Audiology for ENT surgeons? workshop was organized at MERF Institute of Speech & Hearing. X) 22nd Jun - Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered a lecture on ?Anatomy and Physiology of the Auditory system? at ?Audiology for ENT surgeons? workshop organized at MERF-ISH.

I) 5th May ? Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered ?Dr. Gnanasundari Bose oration? on ?Recent advances in the management of deafness? at State IMA meet, TANIMACON, 007, Tanjore. II) 6th May ? Surgical camp was conducted by Madras ENT Research Foundation at Pattukottai. III) 12 - 13th May ? Free Surgical camp was conducted by Madras ENT research Foundation and Dr. Kumaraswamy Health Centre, Kanyakumari. 25 free surgeries were performed. IV) 19-20th May - Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered an oration on ?Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome? in AOI meet at Shri M.P. Shah Medical College, Jamnagar, Gujarat. V) 20th May - ENT and free hearing screening camp for civil supplies CID personnel was conducted at Madras ENT Research Foundation. Around 70 personnel were screened for various ENT disorders and hearing impairment. VI) 26th May ? Clinical-audiological meet was organized at Madras ENT Research Foundation. Cases discussed were a) A case of fluctuating sensori-neural hearing loss b) A case of delayed communication c) A case of cerebello-pontine angle tumor VII)27th May - ENT and free hearing screening camp for civil supplies CID personnel was conducted at Madras ENT Research Foundation. Around 70 personnel were screened for various ENT disorders and hearing impairment.

I) 15th April - Clinical-pathological conference was conducted at Madras ENT Research Foundation. Cases presented were a) A case of recurrent pleomorphic adenoma of parotid b) Giant cell tumor of the sphenoid sinus c) A case of external auditory canal malignancy. II) 22nd April - Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered a lecture on ?Management of congenital hearing loss ? current status and the future of cochlear implants and brainstem implants? at Vishakapatnam. III) 22nd April - Doctors from Madras ENT Research Foundation participated in a free ENT and deafness screening camp at Thiruvannamalai organized by Rotary International.

I) 4th Mar - A surgical camp was conducted at Pattukottai by Madras ENT Research Foundation. II) 10th Mar ? The first Clinical-audiological meet was organized at Madras ENT Research Foundation. Cases presented were a) A rare case of unilateral auditory neuropathy b) An uncommon presentation of Meniere?s disease c) Management of a hard of hearing child. III) 17 - 18th Mar ? International Update on electrophysiology was organized by Madras ENT Research Foundation and Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered a lecture on ?Auditory neuroanatomy? . IV) 23 - 24th Mar ? Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered a lecture on ?Obstructive Sleep apnoea Syndrome? at the National Update organized by Armed Forces Medical College, Pune.

MERF participated in free ENT camp organized by Shiva Sakthi Sai Charitable Trust, Thandalam medical camp. V) 22nd Feb - Dr. Mohan Kameswaran delivered a lecture on ?Management of a deaf child? at the AOI, Tanjore Branch.
